jPod

Next season we are due to see the release of the jPod System. The jPod will communicate with the Maxi Chem Extreme Series control unit using the same wireless system as the remote unit.

It will also connect to a host PC via a USB or LAN (Local area network) interface. It will also contain a SIM card module to enable GPRS connectivity to the mobile/cellular telephone network.

The device will have no separate display or keypad. A PC software program will be provided which will allow complete control over the Extreme Series control unit, as though the user was at the unit.

It will also facilitate logging of data, and display alarms and other events. This is especially critical for commercial pools, where the pool manager may be asked to be accessed via the internet (to read the current data, alter settings, download logged data, request a service call etc).

The software will be able to send error and alarm messages to a nominated email address. With the SIM module, this will allow the system to be accessed via SMS requests from the owner’s mobile phoned in the event of alarms and errors. This would effectively provide 24/7 monitoring of a commercial pool, without the pool manager needing to be on site.

This communication interface will also allow the user to request a service call or obtain firmware upgrades with a click of a mouse. The jPod unit allows remote monitoring of the pool from anywhere in the world via the internet. Situations include pool shop/maintenance monitoring of the pool when owners are on holidays. Monitoring geographically diverse pools from one central location.
